I think it still has potential, but the renewal fee is a killer at $100 a pop, I also dislike that they keep offering these huge discounts every couple years. It lowers the value when you offer it for $7.95 to generate new interest.
I am not sure what is behind all these new extensions coming out, do they expect search engines to give preference by the use of the extension to match their business needs?
I have a super premium one that I picked up through the after market...that I will most likely sell for the right price. I have one that I would like to develop in the future for my Asian/Japanese niche. I had 10 .xxx domains at one time, but the renewal fees cut into profits.
