OneHungLo is right. As an Asian man, I cringe when someone calls me an Oriental. The phrase Oriental is used to describe inanimate objects like Oriental Rugs or Oriental Dresses..not people. It's a derogatory term. It would be like calling an American Black person an African or a monkey.
