That syndrome is nothing new, you can get that even with a small fever or any other infection. The things in the drinking water i would be worried about also in Brazil. I always get drinking water from bottles.

But a healthy child of 9 years old mustn't have much problems. I advice to use anti-mosquito spray tough.

There was a full page in the local newspaper here why Zika is not responsible for those things. Don't remember all the details. But one of the main ones was that most of the mothers of babies with microcephaly never had Zika to begin with. Why the WHO is spreading this misinformation? No idea.
If you read some of the "answers" on that page for the questions marked with "new", you realize there it's a lot of speculation and they don't actually know what they're talking about.
