My favorite scotch (also on the peaty side) is Ardbeg Uigeadail. Went to a whiskey bar with a huge selection and did a bunch of flights until I settled on that one

This month I'm drinking the Glenfarclas 12 and Ableton 12 (both gifts). Smooth, really approachable balanced scotches and good price points.

I think whiskey is a very personal thing, you have to just start doing flights and figure out what flavor profile you like.
