Replace the HD with a SSD and increase battery life and bootup time in the 10-15 second range.

I used cent os on servers for last 10 years(and i still do) tho i am slowly moving to debian due following reasons - if you want to install additional software on cent os, you need to deploy one or several extra repos. And when you have extra repos , sooner or later you will have conflict with libraries versions and wont be able to upgrade certain software due that. Debian so far had everything what i needed on it's default repo (source as it is called there) and i find it absurd why cent os dont have many major programs on it's default repo. Of course , if you install all programs by compiling then this wont matter.
Another thing where debian have advantage, is how if you want to install something over apt but it missing dependencies, you can automatically install all dependencies while on cent os you need to manually to install dependencies . Only disadvantage of debian is lack of ksplice for reboot-less kernel updates, tho i can live without that.
