Exactly my point.
No one cares about what price you bought the car at.
No one cares how much money and time you have spent taking care of the car.
Everyone cares about the future value or usefulness of the car for themselves.
On the stock market, you value a share (roughly) based on a multiple of future earnings, dividends, to be paid "perpetually" and how much that future flow of money is worth today.
