The United States of America was founded on a very healthy distrust of authority. Most of the founders of our country would have been considered criminals. It is completely American to not trust the cops or any other authority.
WTF? I don't think so. Historically tax rates have not changed much one way or the other no matter who is in charge. They tend to go up in times of conflict and down in times of non conflict. Since the end of WWII Taxes dropped until they hit about the mid 30% range. With the exception of a 2 year period at the end of Reagan's presidency the top tax rate for individuals since 1987 has stayed above 30% and below 40% whether it was a Conservative or a Liberal administration.

I think most everyone believes that there is a distinct difference between an illegal alien and an a legal immigrant. May I point out that it was 1986 with a Split Congress (Republicans had the Senate and Democrats had the house) and a Conservative Republican President (Reagan) that the biggest amnesty program for illegal immigrants was passed and put into place. The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 gave amnesty to most of the then 3.2 million illegal immigrants in the U.S.
The U.S. was founded by people from different places around the world (although mainly Western Europe). The one thing that most had in common was that they were seeking a better life for themselves and their families. So the fact that many people can identify and find compassion for illegal immigrants who are seeking the very same thing does not surprise me at all.
That goes for a certain amount of people on both sides of the fence, it is not a liberal only thing.
Just my
