And you're right, you could set it up yourself and it would be cheaper. As far as I could tell, YNOT were just a middleman for smtp.com so would have very little (or nothing) to do with IP allocation and warm up.
You could actually do what you're trying to do with:
https://sendy.co/
Cheaper than interspire but works only with Amazon SES who charge $1 per 10K emails.
If you're looking to use something like interspire, I would suggest using
https://www.sparkpost.com/ as the alternative to smtp.com - not only are they cheaper, they are also very hands on with their reputation management.
