All I see are the big main sites making money so I get discouraged from spending money doing microniche sites.
But if theres gold at the end of the rainbow Ill keep going.

Fair play. My background is in porn really. I'm a pornographer as opposed to a webmaster, and porn is all I have done my entire life. I had pretty much made a lot of money BEFORE the internet, and when it first started I just used it as another free place to advertise my VHS videos I sold by mail order

I'm now nearly 50, & retired. As for the money you COULD make, its all relative. I'll try to explain but stats and numbers are not my strong point
Using the example in my other post which was set about 8 years ago, I can break it down as follows. Hosting was a negligible cost as I already had an account. Billing was a negligible amount as I didn't need to pay the 1000 visa fee back then. I had a simple camera etc anyway so no extra cost to that, and I was paying £50 per 20 / 25 min video.
I roughly sold about 40 to 50 as soon as I released a vid, then another 40 to 50 mid month when I released a trailer to the vid. This was each month, every month and I released one vid per month. So lets say 100 vids (for simple maths) at £7.99 netted me £ 800. Less the £50 I payed the girl, so that was £750 a month profit. Of course the guys would often by another of my vids at the same time etc, but I'm not including that additional income in my figures...
However that was just me posting for a few mins a day (Max 10 mins) on 3 forums. So thirty days in a month, at 10 mins a day is a total of 5 hours work per month!
£750 dived by 5 hours is £150 per hour. Not a bad hourly payment

But yes, that WAS nearly 10 years ago etc, and people don't really like paying for porn that much anymore, and thats a fair comment. HOWEVER, if its a true microniche, that isn't all over the tubes, (and it hits the spot for them) then its a different story.
So lets say that half of my sales (ten years later) would not be there anymore. OK, fair enough... However I never did facebook promotion. I never did twitter, nor instagram nor reddit etc etc etc... I didn't go big on clips4sale or adultwork or any of the other clip sites that you can upload to and sell from... I didn't email all my previous customers when I released a new clip... I didn't email them the odd special offer etc.
All idid was post on just 3 forums for 10 mins a day...
In otherwords, its up to YOU how much promotion YOU would put into it. The more time you invest, the more you can make. BUT... Its not like I'm giving you a plan where you have to work 40 plus hours a week in the hope of breaking even, and then saying if you worked more you could earn more. I was only working a total of five hours a month...
According to google there are 730 hours in a month, which would leave you 725 hours to earn more than I did...
Thats why I say its all relative. Sure, there are some *minimal* start up costs, but its really just pocket money to get going TBH. And you still have the time to do whatever else you want at the same time so you are not relying on your vids entirely as your income. Its a nice extra bit of cash thats steady and regular and requires virtually no work...
Hope that makes some kinda sense. I hate numbers
