The cannot. If an ad network is on the blocking lists as a third party advertiser the ad is blocked or worse, the popup/unduer is closed and the advertiser pays for that millisecond exposure and gets absolutely nothing (but the bill).

answer to the OP: this please turn off your adblock is a joke. I just go to the Firefox 'reader view' then all the ads are blocked along with shitty design. Either that or go to a competing website -- where you don't get a hard time. I'll click on the links that i find interesting -- some websites are 'so so' cleaver -- they serve their own ads and I see them
