Mateen was as American as anyone else. He grew up here and seems like the kind of guy any of us could know personally. Claiming you love iSIS while shooting up a gay club you frequent on a regular basis doesn't make you an ISIS member. It means you're a confused, angry person who blames everyone else for your problems...and you're hoping you go into the grave with everyone thinking you're not gay. But that didn't work for him.
