Ultimately it's the fault of the voters. While people keep voting for acceptable, to the politicians, candidates the system won't change.
Stop voting for politicians who support the status quo and terrify the status quo.

I agree. If all the people who say they don't like either candidate would vote for a third party, we would have a third party. Sadly, half the people can't even be bothered to vote so change is going to be very slow coming and what changes do happen likely will not benefit the people.
