They do not share the same design teams although they may use notes on design Lexus has its own design team right here in California while Toyota still has all dewcisions come from Toyota proper out of japan.
Since we are being smarty pants here did you know that Lexus was never suppose to succeed....
The division was started as a way to bolster sales for the camry...as a way to show the same kind of quality exists under the Toyota name plate.
This was revealed by the President of Toyota America during a conversation at the Hollywood Bowl.......ironically during the Lexus Summer Jazz festival.
Also did you know that Acura has been a huge drain on Honda. Since the Honda brass has always been so conservative...they have had a very difficult time differentiating the acura brand from Honda. The truth is that any Acura model has a Honda model that is nearly comparable. The only model that is distinguishable on sight is the NSX which still has undeniable Honda charateristics. Expect Acura to completely overhauil the entire line as Infinitry has in the next four years.
Had Infinity not scored witht he G35 (350 z) variant it couls have spelled doom. Now with the fx 45 and Murano (nissan) being a bigger success than anticipated infinity will most likely surpass Acura as the #2 luxuary name plate out of Japan.
