If they have him recorded saying what he did and why AND if he was cornered where any cop coming in to apprehend was in grave danger I would be fine with a manned robot armed coming in and shooting to maim.

If they recorded him saying he had a bomb, then they were fair in blowing him up. Too risky shooting then sending in bomb squad etc.

Also, Texas sucks and the forces there are very militarized. Republicans have created an evil nanny state there with an overbearing police presence for financial gain. Residence there know if you fuck with the police you'll be overly punished.
