Let's look at it closer and I'll show you some "secrets" your media has "forgot" to mention about. First of all, we can see that the USA spends much more dollars to their army than Russia. I'd say incomparable more. Does it mean you spend the money as effectively as in Russia? No, it doesn't. The most expensive weapon on our planet is the nuclear one, and Russia has more of nukes than the States or China together. Plus we have the best rocket technologies on Earth to deliver them (you are not going to dispute it, right?) How come that we have more nukes with such a small budget? Think about it.
Will your tactical aircrafts be somehow useful in the intercontinental conflicts? Maybe you think that 10 aircraft carrier battle groups will help you against a nuclear superpower? Sorry, but according to your own military analysts even a small rocket cruiser like "Moscow" (an old good
project "1164") is able to sink two (2!!!) US aircraft battle groups with its anti-ship cruise missiles with tactical nuclear warheads. Do you understand that 20th century is gone and there will be no midway-stile ace combats for aircrafts? Those will be destroyed with a small and very cheap cruise missiles every of of those is worth a dozen of Hiroshimas.
Now about the troops. You table does not mention anything about so-called
internal troops (MVD). You have to sum them up because we have an unified system and those guys are trained to do the same tasks as the external forces (the army). They were the main power in Chechen war and they will be used in any other war conflict.
And that's not all. The table says that Russian army has 845,000 of
active ground troops. Do you know what it means? It means that year ago we have the same amount of troops and now they are in reserve (in the States they will be called veterans). Didn't get it? The same amount of soldiers were in service 2 years ago too. So in case of war all those guys will get back on duty (all men of 18..27 year old have to serve in army) - go do your math now ;)
I don't want say that Russia is good and America is bad. I don't want to say that we are better than you. I don't want to say that WWIII can be won by someone. I want to say: forget about your illusions and don't trust to the Western media which says: "Russia is done". That's a very wrong and dangerous illusion. You will never win in a full-scale nuclear war against Russia. And Russia will never win it either
