i drive by the motel room he lived in on the way to my music shop all the time. the one he wrote 'Cars Hiss By My Window' in, i think about it when I drive by since he used to listen to the cars drive by. and sang that onje ;)
his bungalow was not far from me too, just about 2 miles maybe?
