Some have learned nothing.
It's impossible to beat religion by force in the modern world. It's extremely hard to educate people that god is man made. And stopping some using religion and a fictional being as a tool to control te masses. Has been in operation for more years than this last batch of gods were invented.
All that can be done is to put them in isolation so they're not allowed to infect others with their stupidity. Be they midwestern neanderthals who think the world was made in seven days, building a boat proves anything or a fictional character can bless them.
Or people living in a village in the ME thinking killing others for worshipping the same fictional character in a different way is right. Or eating pork is wrong.
