I did some dBase coding but wrote more in Basic... when Microsoft brought out a COBOL compiler for their PC I moonlighted writing custom systems for small businesses and made great money doing it. I later worked for a small reinsurance company in NYC and set up a network of computers for them that ran a multi-user version of the CP/M operating system. Seems so primitive now.
