However if the US, China, Russia were in the same relationships as say the US, France, Germany, UK... mankind would of already been living on Mars and beyond.

I couldn't agree more.
Our relationship with Russia is odd - We are constantly fighting with each other, meanwhile we run the International Space Station together. And just this morning Russia announced it is working on plans to have our military forces work together in Syria which is a huge deal.
China, on the other hand, has never attacked anyone. Ever. Setting aside their recent actions in the Pacific ocean, they've never hurt anyone and there is no reason not to trust them.
But what Trump doesn't understand is that sometimes our objectives are different than Russia's. Russia seems to want Ukraine, and our policy is that Ukraine is it's own nation and has the right to self determination. We shouldn't permit nations to invade other countries and take them over just because they want to.
