I tested with a 2 step approach. You want to build trust with your customers so I used a limited access approach until the invoice was paid. Surprisingly, and despite what most people here would think, the vast majority did send in their payments. Granted, I did use some clever marketing techniques obviously to get the followthrough to happen. And without those enticements, the results might not have been as great, so its not easy without thorough thought for each step of the process.
What was very interesting also was the secondary sales from the inserts. I wasn't expecting to see much but the response was good.
One of the biggest mistakes in this business is so many people look at customers as a one time sale, hit 'm and that's it. Well that's not it, and it shouldn't be done like that. There is nothing more valuable in a business than having a highly satisfied customer base that truly recognizes you do care about them and that you want to continue providing them with services and products they will enjoy for a long time. Every time you can resell existing customers your average customer acquisition costs get better and better on the bottom line.
Anyway much thought needs to be done to figure out and tweak the logistics and that is what I will do.
