I would wait until we are half way up the adoption (Bell) curve before I would invest any serious money too as a business venture.
For webcams it may have some viability if it is not a flash in the pan as I expect the outcome will be. I still remember the cumbersome 3D glasses and the adoption rate's failure.
Now real holograms of a camgirl -- now that would be interesting but that is far off for now.
VR is a longshot for now

my point is that people easily seem to dismiss VR by comparing it to 3D and in 99 of 100 cases those people have never tried VR - and you just did the same.
And your hologram of a camgirl is not that far off
