It sounds good until you try to put it into practice. Then when you do, 50 million starve to death and 20 million are executed. Socialism looks good on paper, but it doesn't take human nature into account.
Sweden, a small homogeneous population, may last longer under that model, but no socialist republic has lasted 100 years. Sweden has not even declared itself "socialist", the ruling party has been the Swedish Social Democratic Party for most of the time since 1945. So they're like a laid back church or a workplace with casual clothes; doesn't matter, in the end it doesn't last.

Socialist doctrine is 'from each according to his ability, to each according to his DEEDS', Soviet Union operated under that tenet - it's the first stage. The Communist dream, a fucked up fever dream, was that stage 1 would be so successful, create such wealth, a utopian society of 'from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs'.
The irony is that the technology innovated from capitalist countries will create a better world where everybody's basic needs will be met. There is no doubt we are heading towards a society where there aren't jobs for many in society and they'll be paid a guaranteed income.
