The crew who just did the roof on my townhouse (12 units) banged it out in about 2 weeks and did an amazing job. I'm pretty sure most of the workers were illegal -- I don't know exactly because I wasn't in charge of hiring the company who did the job.
But you know what? I didn't see 10 Americans up there busting their asses in the hot sun for 2 weeks. I rarely saw them sitting around -- and the roof looks great.
When all of these people get booted out the country, who is going to do the jobs nobody else wants to do? If that was a crew of US born white or black guys I'm sure they'd be shooting the shit and having lunch breaks every half hour, and getting twice as much to take twice as long.
Conservatives used illegal immigration as the boogeyman destroying our country, but that's so far from the truth. Are there some bad elements sneaking across the border? Absolutely. But the large majority want to work, and they do.
