No I didnt miss that part at all, it is you who misunderstood.

The point is that if you buy food in McD, much of that food will be imported. Since the bolivar is devalued against the USD and by extension all other currencies, don't expect much of a difference in price for McD or Starbucks or any brand with its outside source produce which is priced outside Venezuela.

It may also be possible that you're GF did an official FX rather than buying her bolivars at the black market rate... there would be a massive difference between the two in terms of FX rate.

Recently you could buy a very nice meal in an upscale joint for around $1 if you get your bolivars at the black market rate and that's a fact. It may even have got cheaper since and there's 100's of blogs about how cheap Venezuela is right now....
