Crowne Plaza Hotel - Queens, NY. Just weeks after 9/11 attacks in 2001. We attended the first Bondcon (bondage/fetish producers convention) - and met with firefighters and their families who were at a memorial service in another hotel convention room. Many of the firefighters later mingled with our adult industry people and later thanked the Bondcon organizers for providing them with a momentary distraction from their horrific loss and grief.
It was surreal - and at the time gave us pause to look at the industry from a completely different perspective. We understood the diversionary aspect of the entertainment we were creating for others.
