The Contact aliens didn't cause mischief because they weren't on the Earth.
E.T. caused lots of mischief. He hit Elliot with a baseball, causing him to destroy a pizza. He wrecked the kitchen. He tried to eat a toy car. He made Elliot become drunk who, in turn, caused complete mischief in biology class.
The only non-mischievous aliens are the ones who stay home.
