I don't think that's a bad rule. I stayed at hotels where guest weren't allowed after a certain time. Most residential hotels have strict no guest policies. Allot of ads on Craigslist have allot more rules like time allowed in apartment from x time to x time, no kitchen privileges etc which I think are ridiculous.

I do remember many years ago I was moving out of an apartment and looking at places to rent. There was one pretty cool house I looked at where the landlord said he had to approve any quests I planned to have over that would stay past 8pm. That was a deal breaker to me.
