1) I prefer the Yeltsin times over nowadays.

2) It's a very stupid delusion that Russia needs a strong leader. And Putin is a good example, because he is not strong at all. He is not Stalin, Peter the Great or Ekaterina the Great. He is something that Berlusconi was to Italy or Nixon to the USA.
