Baddog said it perfectly. Wearing such clothes is considered campaigning, and campaigning is not allowed at polling stations.
In some areas politics are dominated by one political party or another. Imagine walking up to your polling booth and you see dozens of people running the polling station wearing political shirts for the other party. Some people might be intimidated by this.
