In my early 40s I was living well, had a desk job, didn't have much physical activity, and then I quit smoking. My weight quickly went through the roof - I put on eighty pounds in one year. Once the weight is there it's difficult to get rid of.
Special thanks to everyone on GFY who fat shamed me - It kicked me into high gear, motivated me to lose weight, and now I am living a much healthier life style because of it.
