What part are you missing? Read again... Cost of operation for a larger company is higher than for a sole proprietor... With cost per update in mind it would have been impossible for me to lose money on updating... For them? ask them not me...
They first approached me for a partnership... That means that even with a revenue split it would have been worth it to both... or they wouldn't be interested... right?
