The waters are not muddy here. Alt-right should be called what it is...white supremacy. Normalizing their speech is not the direction civilization is supposed to be heading, and Trump's election has seemed to embolden these ugly people. Every news outlet should stop calling them the "alt-right" and call them what they are --- white supremacists, or Nazis. Letting them have this new branding with a harmless sounding moniker is doing exactly what they need to be de-marginalized.

Part of the problem is that people only wish to educate themselves to the point that what they learn reinforces what they believe. A lot of conservatives I know think Obama is a Nazi because Hitler was a socialist when it came to many things. So they say, "Hitler was a socialist, Obama is a socialist, therefore Obama is a Nazi." It makes no sense, but it serves their purpose and there is no changing their minds.
