They just don't have an understanding of what it is like to be an average American. Trump and his kids have no idea what it's like to be a public school because they've never been to one. Same with most of the others - Romney, for example, was in public school until 7th grade and then went to private schools. You think his kids went to public school?

Our public schools right now are fucked. We have this common core nonsense. No one understands it - Not the politicians, not the school administrators, not the teachers, not the parents, and most important of all not the kids. This started when my kid entered high school. Now we have this new person who will be in charge of the education department who wants to more or less end public schools. We are going to have an entire generation of kids that will not get a proper grade school / high school education because of this nonsense, which will have massive ramifications twenty or thirty years from now when that generation is running the country.
Things are fucked because American corporations have been becoming multinationals for the last decade and moving jobs out of America the last 2 decades. So the money for schools, roads, etc. isn't there like it used to be.

Trump owns a multinational and wants to cut their American corporate taxes. So it's only going to get worse and wont get better until someone like Trump isn't in office.
