agreed here 100%. those capabilities are a foundation though, we do have some agency in our interactions with the world

That is precisely what I meant. Even if we accept the idea that "humans are inherently base" which is in no way verified, we need to see that the best of what we've done has been accomplished by looking away from those tendencies.
