I find most Americans speak with a twang. Hence Potato, tomato & even names like Steve Carell would be said much different in the UK.

When a Brit says Barrel of beer, we say barul, where Americans say Ba rel.

Wondering, how do you pronounce a female name like Carol, I'd say it like when you sing a carol for Christmas. A barrel of beer's said the same way by most Brits rather than Daryl, like Daryl Hannah
