I don't doubt this for a minute. He knows the two are intertwined. The more famous he gets the money he can get. There are also side benefits of being famous that I'm sure he enjoys.
It will be interesting to see how he changes once the luster of being the new POTUS wears off and he is just that guy doing the nearly impossible job and being soundly criticized for everything he does everyday.
