My kid has broken her leg and her arm, and in both cases we surely didn't go to the ER. With the leg we went to the doctor and with the arm we went to urgent care. (Ironically, even with health benefits it's much cheaper to go to urgent care and just pay for it out of our pocket.)

You only go the ER when it's life threatening. I've been to the ER twice in my life and both times I was unconscious....
I was a 21 year old new father, and my kid was born 6 weeks premature. That's the only time he's been to the emergency room and he's only been to the doctor a handful of times. I was more talking about seeing the signs of something wrong with a baby lol the last time I was in an emergency room I was a little kid my mom had burnt my hands and arms in hot water (punishment) 3rd degree burns, I ended up staying a couoke months propped up in arm casts because I kept trying to pic the scabs. Lol

I agree with you about not always going to the emergency room. When I took my son there were 2 welfare moms that were there, there reason? To get free food & diapers for their kids while waiting, then they left, as their babies weren't actually in need of a doctor
