There is nothing hostile or vulgar about it. They didn't picket. They didn't tell him to leave. They aren't egging his house or trying to disrupt his life. They are just letting him know they don't agree with him.
When you publicly say that you support gay conversion therapy you might find some people who disagree with you. If you are then elected Vice-President of the United States you might find some people willing to tell you they disagree with you.
I get this visual of him sitting in the back of an SUV in a Secret Service motorcade driving by dozens of these flags and signs and him trying not to act like he wants to light them on fire.
