"King Cobra" - The Movie has been out for a month or two. I just found out about it yesterday! So I watched it.
"King Cobra" - The Movie, is the story about the saga of gay video studio Cobra, producer/director Bryan Kocis, and underage performer Brent Corrigan.
Bryan Kocis was murdered in January, 2007, by studio rivals. Both are now serving life sentences without parole. Probably all for the best, since they couldn't stay current on their bills anyway.
Brent Corrigan is a huge gay video star. Before and after turning 18, and his four IDs. Using his real name, he has done non-porn movie work.
I watched the movie on
Amazon Video. I made gay porn before Bryan Kocis, I made gay porn during the timeline of events of this movie, and I've made gay porn after Bryan was murdered - to this very day.
We talked about Cobra, Bryan Kocis, Brent Corrigan and underage performers quite a bit on GWW in 2006-2009. Especially during the 2006-2007 FBI 2257 raids. Then quiet. I had no idea a movie was being made.
Which brings up my major criticism of the movie: What audience was the movie made for?
* Gay guys who are fans of Brent Corrigan? Disney's and "The Foster's" Garrett Clayton plays Brent. Monday night I watched Garrett Clayton (for the first time) in NBC-TV's "Hairspray." then Tuesday night shirtless and maybe pantless in "King Cobra". He did a terrific job, relaxed, sexy, confident. Cute Disney twink body. I don’t shoot “twink” because my niche in the market is “bears with fur (ME)", not twinks.
* Fans of gay porn?? Just like "The Social Network," I'm not sure "fans" really care diddly about the kind of stuff that goes on in the background.
* Fans of murder mysteries? It wasn't much of a mystery. The perps were nabbed shortly thereafter, mostly because of their own loose lips. But, there were enough transactional details that filled an hour and a half feature length movie. Especially stilted conversation between producers and models.
* Fans of the cast? Would you believe JAMES FRANCO as one of the perps? Christian Slater as Bryan Kocis?? Molly Ringwald, Alicia Silverstone???
The screenplay of the transactional details was well done. The dialogue cheesy and weak. James Franco saying FUCK one too many times. However, Garrett Clayton shouting “Let’s Fuck” as the closing line of the movie was way cute!
