well, not having been there is is impossible to know what happened and therefore not on to directly address any individual situation. Expect to say that the bit of interaction I have had with him on boards hasn't been bad but hey a board is a board.
On more general issues there are two issues here. One is about private behaviour and the other is about being professional.
In private people can do anything they like and I am not going to care (if it is illegal that is for the law to deal with). After all, how many movies do you go see where someone down the money line is on drugs? If they are a personal friend that is a different matter...time to have a chat out of real concern.
That said, I was always taught to act with respect in public - ie be on my best behaviour - because you never know who is watching and how that will influence your life. People deciding not to do buisness is a prime example. The better behaved you are - decorum is the word that comes to mind - the more people are going to want to be around you. If you make them uncomfortable they might laugh for a little bit but are eventually going to leave you alone to your own devices.
