You are talking about "canon law"
English common law and Canadian law were influenced by "canon law". When Europe was thrown into the chaos of the Dark Ages, the church was the only institution capable of administering justice. The "Canon laws", dating back to the beginnings Of Christianity, were used as a binding force which eventually came to shape the lives of most Mediaeval Europeans. Some "Canon laws" are still with us in Canadian laws governing succession to property, marriage, incest and Sabbath observance.
On November 29,1978, the Law to the Laws of God and have re- Reform Commission of Canada, headed by Justice Minister Marc LaLonde, recommended to Parliament that among other changes in the criminal code, "incest between consenting adults" should no longer be a crime. This would apply to anyone above the age of 17 and would be part of a broad reform of sexual offences in the criminal code.
We are talking about two consenting adults !
This is the year 2003, we are not talking about the middle ages and we are not a bunch of hill billies living in the south. We are both open minding people. You guys sound like a so prejudice and NOT open minded.
Quebec this year now recognizes same sex marrages. I am not a homo but I think this was a great step to respecting how other people live there lives and is a huge step for human rights !
