To shoot the average porn scene in VR isn't going to work, like 3D it will only emphasise how crap it is.

To shoot great porn in VR might just work. Assuming a company can sign up enough to justify the costs. For instance, if it requires twice as much money to shoot a site has to increase it's sales/retention every month.

So it will only be a handful of sites able to afford it.

Now factor in Piracy and free VR on Tubes.
