Exactly. It's rash and foolish of him to say "send in the feds" in public.
1) it insults the local authorities without offering help
2) it scares the public who are already worried about FEMA camps and shit like that
3) it scares the public who are worried about federal overreach
4) it fires up public who want this to happen in their town because they are unhappy with their own crime statistics
5) it sets precedent for other cities that have worse problems to expect the same treatment.
NONE OF THIS NEEDED TO HAPPEN. He should have picked up the phone and talked with Emmanuel and hashed out a plan to solve this behind the scenes. But he is incapable of this because HE NEEDS THE ADULATION. He cannot let the credit or the spotlight go to anyone else. THIS IS HIGHLY DISTURBING in a person who holds so much power. Quadafi, anyone? Hitler? Pol Pot? Where the hell is he steering the country?
