Being from Canada - the atmosphere and attitude here is much more tolerant then our brothers to the south. We don't demand much of the world - keep to ourselves and when it does come to a war - we're generally there to wipe up and look after the injured. We are not aggressive in nature towards anyone and my personal feeling is that we're more accepting of others differences. Muslims or anyone from another country are made to feel welcome and we don't have biases against anyone's religion or way of life.
I've gone into stores and restaurants where someone is praying as is their religious right on a matt on the floor. We simply allow them to go along with their believe and patiently wait until done before either doing business or talking.
Even the community that I live in - it is a multicultural pot. Each morning if I see a few muslims etc. I will smile - wave and acknowledge them as neighbors, even shoveling their driveways in the snow since they aren't use to it. My kids play with their kids and consider some best friends. Hatred - bigotry is taught.
Canada is a great country with its own internal political problems and except for a few isolated situations - on the whole - just want to live our lives in peace.
