Very standard stuff to test the new regime and see where they're at and how they'll respond and what they can get away with. Putin would like to know if he can take over more real estate from the Ukraine to get his land bridge and China knows they are screwed as new punitive trade deals are coming to deal with their decades of bullshit, endless currency manipulation and failure to even attempt to abide by the terms of any trade deals that others hold themselves to.
