Frankly, I think the Flyer's two back-to-back Cups can be directly attributed to Shulz's influence. Sure the guy was the epitome of goon, but he could actually also play. And his arrival in Philly changed the entire mindset and culture of that club.
Add in some stellar performances from Bernie Parent and guys like Reggie Leach, not to mention Bobby Clarke, and you had a team that stuck together, took on anyone that got in their way, and basically dominated their way to the cups.
Fred Shero gets a lot of the credit, but I think Shultz is the guy who changed the entire mindset of that team.
I'm a Leafs fan, and remember these series well.
