Yes. The sound of the engine you hear inside the I8 is fake, but thats not what I meant.
When it comes to the sound from a real V8, or any other engine, the sound that it makes, is "fake". From a strictly scientific point of view, The exhaust is pouring out noise, air and heat that is wasted energy. The louder it is, the more energy is being wasted.
I totally get the allure of the engine sound. Car makers spend alot of money and time to get the sound to sound the way it does, so they clearly get it too. I used to love it, but I don't anymore.
