I don't know how corrupt Romania was in the 1800's. But I have daily dealings with Romanian coworkers and hear their comments about the condition of the corruption there.
We have facilities in Bucharest -- our customer and model support is headquartered there. We also contract with many Romanian cam studios and models.
Most allude to the conditions of the Soviet supported regime of Ceausescu and the normalization of graft, corruption and tax evasion that became a Romanian tradition.
