It depends on what you are talking about. If it is a real addiction then there is no real cure for it. What you have to do is figure out how to manage it. Alcoholics are alcoholics for life. The ones that stop drinking are the ones that figure out how to recognize the things that trigger them and make them want to drink then they avoid those things and they learn how to turn that addiction energy towards something different and hopefully more positive. For example, I know a guy who traded booze for working out. He is now addicted to working out and running marathons and stuff like that, but that is a hell of a lot better than booze.
If it is just something you enjoy, but you know is bad for you, then it is a matter of having the willpower to turn away from it and do it less. Again, I would suggest trying to replace it with something or things that are better for you or more positive in nature than the bad thing.
