Even so building a spacecraft capable of getting humans to a planet 1 light year away, keeping them alive and fit and possibly bringing them back or having enough to sustain life on their destination. Is as far away as Bronze Age Man circumnavigating the World.
With all the real problems on Earth, its not worth the bother.

We will not need a special space craft or an engine that is capable of faster than light speed. The common belief is that we can, with the help Dark String Energy (not Dark Matter) find a local area in our galaxy that has two Strings of Dark Energy crossing over themselves. That area will produce whats commonly called a worm hole. The worm hole will in effect warp space-time allowing us to travel millions of lightyears in an instant. The real issue is that so far the projected return journey always seems to end up in a singularity situated at the center of most galaxies.
This is all very interesting but the most important discovery of recent years is we will only have a few billion years to get our act together.
If we suppose that time started with the big bang, its been proven that the universe is expanding at an accelerated rate due to Dark Energy, its proposed that time will run out and everything will freeze as the Dark energy is depleted. Result we are all fucked !!
